What is workcover (SIRA)?
responsible for regulating workers compensation insurance, motor accidents compulsory third party (CTP) insurance and home building compensation insurance, in NSW. They focus on service delivery to injured people, affordability, and the effective management and sustainability of these insurance schemes. SIRA's main objectives are:
to assist in securing the health, safety and welfare of workers and, in particular, preventing work-related injury,
prompt treatment of injuries, and
effective and proactive management of injuries, and
necessary medical and vocational rehabilitation following injuries,
in order to assist injured workers and to promote their return to work as soon as possible.
What is a workcover physiotherapist?
Physiotherapists help people affected by injury, illness or disability through various approaches including manual therapy, movement, functional exercise, education, and advice. They use physical techniques to improve function, reduce pain for the purpose of increasing a worker’s capacity for employment and guide workers to transition to a self-managed exercise program. Physiotherapists must be approved by us (issued a provider number) to deliver treatment services in the NSW workers compensation system.
What do you need to do to see one of our workcover approved physiotherapists?
After initial notification of your injury, you'll need to consult your nominated treating doctor (NTD) to obtain a certificate of capacity. Once you have finalised and confirmed a workplace injury you can attend our practice and start treatment with our SIRA-approved physiotherapists and exercise physiologists. All we need is your certificate of capacity specifically outlining the injury, a claim number, date of injury and your employer and case manager contact information.
